Career Counseling
CAREER COUNSELORS
The career counselors offer career counseling and transition planning activities to students in 9th – 12th grades. They work in partnership with students, parents and outside support services to ensure a smooth transition to college, employment training or direct employment. Counselors assist the students in the selection of attainable goals.
The career counselors assist students with the following:
Developing Individual Transition Plans (ITPs) and monitor progress
Selecting appropriate courses and monitor student’s academic progress and state test requirements
Learning about their interests and abilities utilizing career awareness activities and interest assessments at school and in the community
Aligning aptitudes and interests with career requirements and assess students’ work habits Note: change all of the verbs to ing ending
Visiting work sites to learn about careers and career requirements
Learning about nontraditional careers
Researching the labor market
Making well-informed choices
Making career plans after graduation
Conducting employment and post-secondary preparation activities
Making arrangements to visit colleges and post-secondary programs with their parents
Providing students and parents information about college testing
Obtaining information about scholarship opportunities and assist students in the application process
Collaborating with the Department of Rehabilitation in implementing the Individual Plan for Employment (IPE)
Conducting and facilitating Exit IEP meetings for both seniors and Work Readiness Program students

The Career Center frequently sends out emails to students and families. please be sure to check your email often so you do not miss out on any important senior events/updates, etc. Also, please respond to any questions/requests as soon as you can.
