Department of Rehabilitation
What is the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR)?
The Department of Rehabilitation (DoR) provides services and advocacy resulting in employment, independent living, and equality for individuals with disabilities.
DoR can start providing services for students age 16 years of age (with a Social Security number). DoR consumers will receive support through high school. After graduation, DoR will continue to provide services for consumers whether they enter the workforce or attend college/trade school.

DOR provides the following Student Services for students still in High School:
Job Exploration Counseling | career assessments, online job search, etc
Workplace Readiness Training | resume development, travel training, application support
Self-Advocacy I setting goals, understanding workplace rights, reasonable accommodations
Counseling on Post-Secondary Education | financial aid options, college workshops
Employment Preparation I employment benefits, appropriate work behaviors/soft skills
Job Development, Placement, and Follow-Up I interview prep, identify job opportunities
If you choose to go straight to work after graduation, DOR can help you with the following:
Assist with finding employment
Pay for additional training programs
Cover travel costs to and from work
Pay for uniforms, shoes, job-specific tools, and other things you need to be successful at work
Arrange for interpreters

If you choose to go straight to college after graduation, DOR can help you with the following:
Cover tuition and fees (room and board not included)
Pay for textbooks or other required class materials
Travel cost reimbursement
